The meaning of “Daktari”
“Daktari” is the Swahili word for doctor. During the European colonial period in Africa, rangers who were also veterinarians protected the animals from poaching. The local community called them “daktari”.
Daktari Animal Hospital aims to provide the best veterinary care, and the most advanced clinical veterinary medicine from the United States. Based on the Human-Animal bond principle we strive to care for both animals and humans and respect for the relationship between them.
Daktari Animal Hospital has 3 hospitals; Angell Memorial Hiroo Central Hospital, Yamate-Dori Hospital and Kugayama Hospital, all of which are certified animal hospitals of Japan Animal Hospital Association (JAHA). Our 45 member staff all work together to take care of our patients, which are mainly small animals such as dogs and cats as well as exotic animals.
Angell Memorial Hiroo Central Hospital welcomes English-speakers and has emergency services available 24hours throughout the year. The hospital also offer advanced veterinary medicine open to public to provide second opinions and is equipped with a cancer center and a CT center with the latest technology.
